KEKKAI Matcha – Starter | Japanese Matcha Powder, Saemidori Single Cultivar, 100g
There is a threshold to cross before every ritual. Saemidori marks that first crossing — the gentle invitation into the practice of matcha.
The name. Saemidori (冴えみどり) means clear green. Named for the crisp, luminous colour of the leaf itself, this cultivar was developed and registered in Kagoshima, where our leaves are still grown today.
The experience. Bright and grassy, Saemidori opens itself easily. Grown without shading and picked in autumn, it carries more briskness than the shaded grades — a clean, direct green rather than a deep umami. It is at its best steamed into a morning latte, where it holds its clarity through the milk, or whisked light for an everyday bowl.
Origin. Grown in Chiran, a small town in Kagoshima known for tea gardens rising into low mountain mist. Cultivated as a single cultivar and ball-milled to fine powder by Matsudacha, established 1898.
